Here it is expanded into three dimensional space to represent the breadth of Birmingham.Floating balloon-like above the word gives a festive feeling, reflecting the spirit of its citizens. Connecting the heart to the "i", which represents an individual, conveys a personal word balloon. Each cell represents one of the many hundreds of neighbourhoods in and around Greater Birmingham. The red borders represent the network of connections between neighbourhoods. Birmingham's iconography includes its location in the centre of the heart of England, and its slogan "Global City, Local Heart" which was popularized by Lord Whitby. The City's institutions include Heart, the UK's biggest commercial radio brand which was founded here, and the Heart of England NHS Foundation Trust. |
