city of Birmingham originated as an Anglo Saxon hamlet in the 7th
century, and grew into a bustling market town in the 12th
century.
Birmingham now has over a million residents, and is the second most highly populated British city.
It is one of the youngest and most diverse cities in Europe, and is largely responsible for the birth of the industrial age.
Birmingham
is in the West Midlands region, which has over 4 million
residents. Its areas of outstanding natural beauty
include Cannock Chase, Malvern Hills Shropshire Hills and parts of
the Wye Valley and Cotswolds.
