is a Grade I listed concert hall that opened as a venue for popular
assemblies and the Birmingham Triennial Music Festival in 1834.
It
was designed in the 19th century revival style of Roman architecture
and its dimensions are based on the Temple of Castor and Pollux in the
Roman Forum.
The building was renovated between 2002 and 2008,
and offers classical, folk, jazz, pop and rock
concerts, organ recitals, spoken word and dance performances as
well as community events, conferences, erformances, fashion
shows and broadcasts.
Its famous concert pipe organ was built by William Hill & Sons.
