Martin Barr
was born in Kings Heath in 1946. He studied architecture before opting for a musical career.Barr joined Jethro Tull in 1968, and stayed with the band for 4 decades. He plays guitar, bouzouki, mandolin, flute, saxophone, and wrote many of their songs.
The albums he recorded include Stand Up, Benefit and Aqualung, and featured his blending of virtuosity with classical music.
His solo albums include A Summer Band, A Trick of Memory, The Meeting, Stage Left and Away With Words, and feature a range of blues, acoustic folk and ambient electronic styles.
