previous nextTony Hancockwas born in Hall Green in 1924, and was an English comedian and actor.He joined the RAF Regiment during World War II, and returned to the stage as resident comedian at the Windmill Theatre. Hancock played the tutor to a ventriloquist's dummy in Educating Archie, and was given a BBC radio show, Hancock's Half Hour. Running for seven years and over a hundred episodes, this led to an equally successful BBC television show portraying his life as a struggling comedian.
